
NYCOM, TNM MOU SIGNING

Nation Youth Council of Malawi (NYCoM) and Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) this morning signed a Memorandum of understanding to work together to empower the youth economically. In his remarks NYCoM Chief Executive Officer, Dingiswayo Jere said the partnership is a great opportunity for the youth as thousands of jobs will be created as a result. He noted that this partnership is unique because it is treating the youth as partners in development.On his part, TNM CEO Arnold M’bwana said the country’s development hinges on youth participation in all key economic activities. As such, they need to be empowered together with their communities.
In this partnership, TNM is sponsoring NYCoM’s paid-up affiliates with capital to run TNM branches and kiosks across the country to create jobs, empower the affiliates to be sustainable, and contribute to the Youth Innovation fund a basket for young entrepreneurs. The youth will become brand ambassadors for Mudzi wathu a community development initiative in which TNM deploys mobile network technology to bring economic growth.
